This is my dad, Fred (or Hugh. Two names, one guy.) A really, really smart engineer geek, he died in the 90s from dementia; this pic taken in the 50s I'm guessing? One of those Cheever-esque suburban parties, no doubt -- he was fond of Manhattans and gimlets (shudder). Anyway here he is, immortalized (LOL) on the web he never knew, but would have loved.
Alex and Laura at Harvey, in the new arts center. Just liked the shot.
Love this piece! Seen in Metropolitan Museum, NYC
The next few shots are from a 50-something party I gave myself last November. OK, it was 51, 'cause the previous year I didn't feel well so promised myself, I said, "Self," I said, "next year you're gonna throw yerSelf a big bash, cuz you never have and you may never will." So I did, and it was great, and almost all my nearest and dearest were able to come. I missed some of my oldest friends who couldn't make it for one reason or another: Chris & Bill, Stephanie, Kathie, and my newer friends Melanie & Michael. Oh, what a night! (Like my partysox?)
What are all these people doing?
Ilene, Dennis, Amy, Rich. Four souls captured appropriately (meant in the best of ways)
We had a roaring blaze going in the outside firepit, where the wild teens roamed freely in the frosty night, toasting their extremities as necessary.
OK, Pete's gonna hate me for this one, but don't Vince look cheerful, though?
Alex's good friend, Laura, and her mom, Vanda, two bee-yoo-tee-ful wimmen
Paul & Beth, teachers, neighbors, friends, parents of Alex's girlfriend, Franny...fun spirits in there
Jerry, Gail's dude. (see next pic)
My birthmom-in-law, Gail, of California and New York. Very cool to find another mother-in-law after years of marriage, and they're both superspecial people - lucky me!
My friend Agnes, from Poland, a talented artist and sweet person.
My mom, Carol. Just about to turn 84 on my birthday last November. What a gal!

I think he likes his Christmas nap accessories.
ohmygawd, what are you doing?!?
The Winchester House, in San Jose. Built by the gun widow, who was either haunted, crazy or a genius. Or all three...she kept building onto her house til she died, but sensibility was not a requirement. Check it out if you get to San Jose - it's another example of bizarre humanity at work.
Sean & Alex, The Buena Vista Cafe, Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco.
Winchester House, early 20th century. The tower fell in the earthquake of 1906.
Winchester House. Yup, that's a window in the floor. Yup.

Weird and beautiful.
Yes, I asked. No, no acid.

Fillmore West. The most AMAZING wall of show posters ever. Truly an exquisite archive of decades of music. Wow.

This is a lighthouse light. You can see my reflection for size. Really quite beautiful glasswork.
